The MIRA Safety VPU-1 dramatically increases your ability to communicate while wearing a gas mask or half-face respirator.
This is a critical advantage for riot police, SWAT teams, military operators, and industry professionals who regularly wear CBRN gear. But it’s also a major asset for anyone who might have to communicate with a small group on the move without compromising their PPE.
Without a VPU, your ability to communicate can be limited by your gas mask’s speech diaphragm. A gas mask microphone helps solve that problem, but it also means that everyone in your party needs a radio (and to know how to operate it) in order to communicate.
With a VPU, you can effectively communicate over a much larger area, even in distressing or distracting situations.
The MIRA Safety VPU-1 integrates seamlessly into your existing gear, including our Gas Mask Microphone and any compatible gas mask or respirator. It’s IP67-certified with rugged construction and a runtime of up to 6 hours.
USE:
The unit features a rugged MOLLE clip that can be attached to a plate carrier, belt, or other MOLLE webbing (including our MOLLE PAPR Pouch). Before mounting the VPU, perform a battery test and plug in the two-pronged cable from your gas mask microphone. Switch the unit on, select your desired volume, and mount the microphone. Note that acoustic feedback may occur if the VPU is placed too close to your gas mask microphone. To eliminate feedback, either reduce the volume or increase the distance between the VPU and the microphone.
STORAGE
Store your MIRA Safety VPU-1 Respirator Voice Projection Unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ideal temperature for storage is -20 to +45°C (-4°F to 113°F). Lithium Ion batteries typically hold a charge for up to 12 months in storage. Periodic battery testing is necessary every 6 months to maintain a full charge.
